       On 01.11.2013 a seminar - good practice exchange on the implementation of the Protection against Domestic Violence Act (PADV) took place in Petrich. Judges from the Regional courts in Petrich, Blagoevgrad, Sandanski and Razlog took part in the initiative. Also, representatives of the Regional prosecutor’s office in Plovdiv, Pertich and Sandanski as well as the Police services in Plovdiv and Petrich participated in the event. All of them presented statistical data on the implementation of the PDVA, analysis of the main problems in this regard and information about the coordination with relevant institutions and organizations.

     On 09.10.2013, the GAF Managing director Milena Kadieva took part in a DARIK radio production called "Give me the right", organized with the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee as an initiative to counter discrimination.

   On 24.09.2013, Gender Alternatives Foundation roganized a press-conference for the presentation of its project “Empowering women economically”, funded by the Global Fund for Women Catapult platform.

   The GAF team presented the opening of the Women’s Resource Centre in Plovdiv where Minority women (Roma and Turkish ethnic minorities), victims of domestic violence and single mothers who rely on social welfare will be provided skills-building trainings on Information and communication technology (ICT) and English language courses, and Legal and Career counseling to ensure them confidence to meet market demand in a globalizing economy.

      Under the project “Empowering women economically”, funded by the Global Fund for Women Catapult platform (27.07.2013-27.07.2014), the Gender Alternatives Foundation established a Women’s Resource Centre in Plovdiv in order to expand  vulnerable women’s access to quality training and education programs.

       Between October 2013 and June 2014, Minority women (Roma and Turkish ethnic minorities), victims of domestic violence and single mothers who rely on social welfare will be provided skills-building trainings on Information and communication technology (ICT) and English language courses, and Legal and Career counseling to ensure them confidence to meet market demand in a globalizing economy. Through these activities, women will also analyze the causes of poverty and violence, voice their concerns, and build their capacity to participate as equals in society.
