The team of the GAF held a pilot training for professionals on the 17th of October 2020 in Plovdiv. The training was part of the project No Gaps - Transnational methodology for socio-labour intervention with young women asylum seekers and refugees” (2018-2-ESO2-KA205-011654), funded under the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

In the training there were youth and social workers engaged directly with vulnerable groups of women and girls in Plovdiv and the region. The aim of the training was to test a transnational methodology with the experts that offers knowledge and skills for successful work with migrant and refugee women through activities that aim at their cultural, social and professional integration. In this context, the team presented techniques for building up of social and civil competences that have the potential to help women understand their civil rights and obligations, as well as to encourage them to actively participate in social life. Stress was laid on the five key divisions of the handbook for professionals – Intercultural Communication, Career counselling and guidance, Life Plan, Entrepreneur Skills and Gender Dimension. After the piloting of the methodology, the participants (professionals and beneficiaries) will evaluate different aspects of it. The aim is to practically realise the methodology and to test it how it works, so that improvements are introduced and the whole process is finalised.

You can find more information of the methodology on the No Gaps Project website. Another important outcome of the project is the innovative No Gaps database for good practices for socio-labour integration of migrant women. The database presents the European experience on the topics.

The partnership consortium consists of five EU organizations – Guarani NGO (ES), Solidaridad sin Fronteras (ES), KEK IEKEP (GR), BEST Institut für berufsbezogene Weiterbildung und Personaltraining GmbH (AT), Gender Alternatives Foundation (BG).
